L'Atelier Bol Vivant

Bol Vivant is a creative workshop dedicated to animated imagery and the archaeology of cinema.

Born from the collaboration of a brother and sister, this project explores the transition from drawing to movement through optical objects that were thought to be forgotten: zoetropes and praxinoscopes.

Expertise derived from animated images

Our approach is not limited to reproducing antique objects. It is driven by professional expertise in image processing:

On the animation side: One of us is an author-director of animated films. His work, recognized by creative residencies (notably at the Annecy Festival ) and supported by the CNC (the French National Centre for Cinema), guarantees the fluidity and narrative quality of the animations we create.

On the image side: The other is a graphic designer and visual designer. She designs the aesthetics of the materials and the structure of the objects, to make each "Bowl" a unique collector's item.

Our philosophy

In our workshop, we create objects that require time: time to draw, to cut, to assemble, and to rotate. Far removed from digital immediacy, Bol Vivant offers a return to the tactile wonder of pre-cinema.

Each object that comes out of our workshop is the result of technical and artistic research, aiming to pay homage to the inventors of the 19th century while exploring new graphic fields.
